Individual review Lazy Susan short film. Desmond kwame Tsorblewu (BFAMP28024)
My preview on the movie Lazy Susan. What happens when your life is going nowhere and you’re not even trying to steer? Lazy Susan takes that question and spins it into a quirky, offbeat comedy about self acceptance and second chances.
Susan (played by Sean Hayes in drag), is a middleaged woman whose life is a mess unemployed, unmotivated, and largely ignored by her family and friends. She’s the kind of person people have grown tired of making excuses for. But when a series of minor life crises finally shake her out of her stupor, Susan decides it might be time to take a shot at doing something with her life.
Blending absurd humor with surprising moments of warmth, Lazy Susan is a character-driven film that walks the line between farce and empathy. Hayes’ transformation into Susan is both comedic and heartfelt, supported by a solid cast including Allison Janney as her critical sister and Matthew Broderick as a potential love interest.
While not for everyone, especially those expecting traditional storytelling, the film offers a unique lens on underachievement and midlife reinvention. It’s a small indie comedy with an oddball charmand a central character you won’t forget, whether you like her or not.
